Sunita Danuwar, Founder President of Sunita Foundation as a Speaker of 'Engagement With Survivors' Plenary session of GAATW's International Member Congress and Conference (IMCC)2024

On 18 October 2024, during Global Alliance Against Traffic in Women (GAATW) 30th Anniversary a panel discussion session on Emerging Issues and key challenges in migrant rights and anti-trafficking were discussed. One of the most powerful panels, “Engagement with Survivors” focused on the importance of listening to survivors of trafficking, migrants, and sex workers.
Sunita Danuwar, Founder President of Sunita Foundation and vice president of Worec, spoke alongside other leaders about how vital it is to involve survivors in shaping the services and solutions that address their needs. This session emphasized that real change comes from centering the voices of those directly impacted, leading to more humane and effective support.
As more organizations, including NGOs, UN agencies, and governments, recognize the importance of survivor leadership, this discussion highlighted the benefits and challenges of building partnerships with those communities. The conversation marks a significant step forward in creating more just, inclusive approaches in the fight against trafficking and exploitation.
